Check your credit while you still have time to act. Knowing what is in your reports helps you ask better questions, address errors early, and prepare for the financing you actually want.
Personal, Business, or Property Financing?
Personal loans
The lender may look at your credit alongside your income, existing payments, and the amount you want to borrow. A high score is helpful, but it is not the whole application.
Business funding
Some programs review the owner’s personal credit, especially when a personal guarantee is involved. Revenue, cash flow, time in business, and existing obligations can also matter. Personal credit monitoring does not provide your business credit reports.
Real-estate financing
A loan based on rent or property value is not necessarily a no-credit-check loan. For example, a DSCR program may qualify the property using rental income while still reviewing the borrower’s credit. Ask about the score requirements for your specific deal.
Start With the Full Picture
- Review all three reports. They may not contain exactly the same information.
- Check the details. Look at balances, payment history, and accounts you do not recognize.
- Know the score source. Note the bureau, model, and date rather than relying on a screenshot with just a number.
- Choose the financing target. Tell the lender what you want to fund, how much you need, and when.
You can get free reports through AnnualCreditReport.com. Monitoring adds included scores and ongoing alerts as you prepare.
Work on the Right Things
Credit improvement is not one-size-fits-all. Reducing reported card balances, keeping payments current, or correcting inaccurate information may be relevant, but the priority depends on your file.
Our credit specialists can help you understand what is in your reports and build a clear list of next steps. Bring your financing goal and timing so the conversation stays focused. You do not need to buy a monitoring subscription to ask us a question.
Check Before You Spend
If you are considering property financing, review credit requirements with your lender before committing to an appraisal or other paid third-party work. Finding a potential issue early gives you more time to address it.
Keep monitoring while you prepare so new report activity does not catch you off guard. The service helps you track your credit; your lender confirms eligibility and terms.
