AnnualCreditReport.com is a good place to read your credit reports for free. Credit monitoring adds ongoing alerts, included scores, and tools for following changes. The difference is what you want to do after that first look.

AnnualCreditReport.com provides free weekly reports you can review yourself. This compares that free service, not separate products sold by the bureaus. Monitoring scores can differ from lender scores.
What AnnualCreditReport.com Gives You
You can get free online reports from Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion once a week through AnnualCreditReport.com. Review your accounts, balances, payment history, and unfamiliar activity.
Those free reports do not include credit scores. They are still useful: the information in your reports is what scoring models use to calculate your numbers. If you want to read the reports yourself without a subscription, this is the place to start.
What a Monitoring Subscription Adds
MyFreeScoreNow offers access to three-bureau reports and scores, daily monitoring alerts, and tools that explain factors affecting your score. You can follow your profile over time rather than rely on a number you checked months ago.
Monitoring can flag changes such as new accounts or inquiries so you can review them. An alert is a reason to check what happened, not proof that fraud occurred. Daily monitoring also does not mean a new score is calculated every day.
The public Propello offer is $39.90 per month. It is a recurring subscription with MyFreeScoreNow, not a free credit report.
Will Checking Hurt My Credit?
Checking your own reports does not lower your score. That is different from a lender checking credit for a new application, which may involve a hard inquiry.
Paid monitoring is not the only way to see a score. Some banks and credit-card providers include one at no cost. Check which bureau and scoring model it uses, and whether it gives you the broader report access you want.
Monitoring scores can differ from the scores used for a loan decision. Use them to understand and track your profile, then have your lender confirm the requirements for the loan.
Make the Information Useful
A report tells you what is there. Knowing what to work on next is where guidance helps. Our credit specialists can help you understand what you are seeing and identify practical next steps for your financing goals.
Choose ongoing monitoring if you want regular visibility while preparing for a loan or working on your credit. Already have recent reports? You can still contact us for help understanding your next step.
